The Marketing 2.0 Conference Team Reviews Spam Markers In This Email

Seeing as to how our conference offers accommodation discounts to enhance your experience, it can be difficult to differentiate between a legitimate offer email and a fraudulent one.

Some key differences right off the bat would be to verify the email address and notice the spelling errors in the example used above. For instance, “marketing2conf” is spelled incorrectly as “marketing2konf,” which is an immediate red flag.

Secondly, we won’t reach out from spammy email accounts out of the blue. Our email IDs have real people behind them! These will include official signatures, brand logos, and so on, as we take professionalism seriously here at the Marketing 2.0 Conference.

Scam Email 2

Hi XYZ,

I hope you’re doing well.

We are delighted to have you onboard with us! Seeing how we are nearing the next edition of the Marketing 2.0 Conference,

...

our team needs to clear off pending additional charges as part of an exclusive services package. In order to help us offset some of the COVID-19 sanitization costs of the three-day event, we'd like to ask you to consider making a donation.

Please respond to this email and receive our exclusive payment link!

Best,

ABC

How Would The Above Example Qualify As A Scam? Marketing 2.0 Conference Reviews

Our representatives clearly communicate all billable expenses before onboarding any attendees. In no way does our conference spring upon you “additional” charges nor do we offer any exclusive “services” package unless specified during onboarding. Remember, our Attendee Passes are all-inclusive.

Given that so many scams are doing the rounds, we encourage people to specifically reach out to our complaints department in the event of suspicious activities conducted under our conference name.
